　　清初山东人王朗始创螳螂拳而举国闻名，历数代之后，南方而来的霍姓弟子将螳螂拳加以改良，并自立门派，从此，螳螂拳分成南北两派，门户之见极深，互相仇杀，祸及下一代。

　　在生日当天，李钦南意外坠入下水道，昏迷中梦见自己成了古代礼部侍郎家的宠爱嫡女邱玉珂。但她被赐婚给神秘的当朝国师，急于一睹其真容却屡屡失败，遂萌生逃婚之念。其实，国师明净川是坠落地球的外星人，曾爱上被山贼抢亲的少女阿栗，却失去她数百年。身为国师的他，在孤独中遇到与阿栗长相一致的邱玉珂，心再度悸动，为查两人关系，频频接近她。邱玉珂为攒“跑路费”，用“创新”厨艺和“超前”商业头脑致富，结果被明净川碰瓷，签下巨额欠条，还被他搬到隔壁监视。邱玉珂发现通往现实世界的棺材藏在荒宅中，却被新主人明净川夺走，误以为他是监视自己的眼线，对其不满。邱玉珂与明净川间矛盾不断，但命运捉弄，两人成为欢喜冤家，鸡飞狗跳的同居生活随即展开……

　　梁帼英（刘美君）、黄忠信（关礼杰）及蓝祖辉（陈嘉辉），都同拥有高尚职业，表面上都过着一般中产阶级的宽裕而安定的生活，但背后他们却常为金钱及生活而烦恼。信妻蓝祖儿（刘秀萍）因挥霍成性，常令信入不敷支。英为了将来生活安定，终日全神贯注地拼命赚钱，便冷落丈夫曲安源（李国麟），后更由于一次投机失败，把一生积蓄化为乌有。辉亦因为追求名利与物质生活，常与爱侣梁帼凤（袁咏仪）在感情上产生不少磨擦。
　　在一次偶然机会下，他们顿然拥有横财五千万，但却未能因此而将困境扭转，反而增添更多烦恼困扰。因为祖儿背弃信，挟带私逃；而源抵受不住英利欲熏心，便与大陆女工乐敏（陈慧仪）私奔外地；辉亦因获横财与凤意见不合而分手，甚至连信的表弟黎旭（吴刚）亦无辜涉入旋涡，被歹徒因财而绑架，身陷险境。最后在他们痛定思痛之后，会否为了换回安定的生活而放弃五千万撗财呢？

Their team includes Danny Messer, a Brooklyn-born investigator with rugged good looks, an unflappable spirit and a colorful family history, and Dr. Sheldon Hawkes, a reclusive coroner who walked away from a promising surgical career after the traumatic loss of two patients. Joining them is homicide Detective Don Flack, an edgy, hardcore investigator with a quick wit, impressive forensic insight and limited patience with potential suspects. Rounding out the team is Aiden Burn, a smart and sexy investigator whose chameleon-like behavior allows her to adapt to any situation at any time. These skilled investigators, who see New York City in a whole different light, follow the evidence as they piece together clues and eliminate doubt to ultimately crack their cases.

　　When Timothy is called into his father's study for a word, it is revealed to him that he is the chosen one and he must set out to kill Pewnack the Destroyer, the Dark One, the Beast - who lives in Saffron Walden. The show closes with Hugh providing accompaniment on the piano as Stephen mixes up a 'Whisky Thunder'.
